Agarwood is a dark resin obtained from the bark of certain Southeast Asian trees that can reach 40 m in height. Known for thousands of years in Japan, India and the Middle East, it was called the "tree of the gods" in ancient times and was commonly used in mystical and religious ceremonies. Distilled resin is used in perfumery for the production of the most sought-after essences. There are different types and qualities of Oud wood; Yemen is the rarest and most expensive.
